Want to get involved?
We are looking for editors! Editors will work closely with contributors to make their writing as sound as possible, and will be granted the opportunity to continually improve their own writing through mentorship and guidance from Pitt faculty.
Editor Responsibilities & Expectations:
- Editors commit themselves to managing all assignments throughout the school year, unless prior arrangements are made with the Executive Board
- Editors dedicate time each week to the workflow associated with a literary journal. While weekly responsibilities will vary, these include:
- Reading assigned submissions
- Content-editing and copy-editing submissions that have been accepted to the journal.
- Attend weekly in-person meetings, unless prior arrangements have been made
- Participate in committee work when applicable (outreach, social media, and website)
- Editors will dedicate appropriate time to reading each assigned submission and sorting them according to the Journal’s standards by the deadline scheduled by the Editor-in-Chief and Assistant Editor-in-Chief
- Editors will provide detailed and meaningful suggestions to contributors to enhance the clarity, conciseness, and argumentative/creative potential of each piece
- Actively engage in communication with the Executive Board and Faculty Advisor
